Finally Over

I hope everyone had a good Christmas holiday.  I enjoyed the day making dinner and relaxing with my honey.  Only after being bummed out my immediate family could not be normal enough to share it with. I guess there are worse off people in the world and lord bless them that they may have received some sort of good go their way for the day.  Christmas Eve I watched the classic "It's a Wonderful Life"

Christmas day I got to relax, crochet and have cuddle time with the cats. Honey watched the basketball games on TV.

I worked on knitting more of my scarf.

I pulled out a ceramic piece I didn't finish painting last year.  Have a bit more to do on it to finish.

Got a phone cover for my new phone.

And my other cat seemed happy I was home.

Now on to looking in to the new year. New projects, crochet-a-longs.  I have to stash bust these next few months.

Anticipation and Stress

Tis the season to be stressed out.  Work is hectic and trying to finish up gifts. Then the next thing you know it's over.  I think it's just going to be me and my honey for X-mas day.  My dad having dimentia won't really know what day it is.  And my mom is another whole ball of stress wax.  Anyway....

I completed a project gift for an aunt.  African flowers table runner. All earth tones.

I received my swap gift from my partner in the Handmade Gift Exchange. Lovely holiday decorations.

And to relax for the holidays, the classic drink of choice. Rum & Egg nog.  Cheers!

Days go by...

This is a rare day.  The last time we will see the same day, month and year in our lifetime.  At least it's not 13's. LOL
So I found this granny blanket in my parents attic. I vaguely remember using it as a teenage and forgot all about it.  I don't even remember who made it.  Pink and mint green centers (hard to see in the picture) So glad I found it.
I got a new phone early for Christmas and had to test out the camera. I got a few better shots of my crochet X-mas tree.
I've also been whipping up a bunch of snowflakes.  Mostly for quick small gifts and some for my tree.

Working on a loom hat for my dad.  Not that he'll be outside much.

And some progress made on my second Lucy bag I am making for another aunt.

And another gift from my aunt's, order from Amazon. Looks really good, not just flowers etc but also borders and trims.
I've been down with sinus cold since last week.  It's just starting to clear up.  Hate being sick around the holidays.

Weekend Crafting

Well I surprised myself with a new crafty project. That is, thanks to You Tube.  I wanted to sew up something with some holiday material I got at a thrift store.  I found a tutorial on making a gift type bag. It took longer that expected as I was sewing the triangular part on bottom to side of the bag. LOL I had to rip it apart and fix.  Anyway, it's just a simple bag.  Not sure what I'll do with it, most likely gift it with something else.

And I finished my Crochet Christmas tree.  I hit Michael's craft store Saturday for some supplies to finish, like the foam cone to hold it up and some little light bulb type decorations.  Alot of the things I used I had in my craft bin already.  I also got a rotary cutter with scissors and used my 40% coupon on that.

And now for my tree.   So proud of it.

Have a good week all!

Getting In The Spirit

This year has just flown by.  I know Christmas is only a month away.  I've been working on gifts and decorated the house but it still seems weird.  We haven't had a real snow fall yet.  Actually we are still having some mild weather for this time of year.  Oh well, keep calm and carry on....

Other than still working on my ripple blanket I've been working on these few projects.

My granny square to be one side of a cushion cover.  Also the Christmas Tree Project from Mikey @ The Crochet Crowd.  or here from his website. He has some great tutorials and is a fellow Canadian crocheter.
Also, I had posted my wishlist from Amazon and my aunt messaged me last weekend to ask which books I wanted for Christmas.  Above is one of them and was surprised how fast I received it.

Also last weekend we went to a local business that has plants, crafty things, animals etc.  They had some fabulous trees on display and had to take pictures.

I put up my tree for first time in a few years.  The one cat really loves chewing on it.  It's a fiber optic tree and he was separating the lighting strings off the branches.  This year I didn't care, that's what a squirt bottle if for.  Honey also decided last weekend to rearrange the living room.  So that was a day's project but I love the layout now and there's more room for my tree.

I also put up my Christmas crochet garland I made last year.

Well, that's all for now.  Have a good weekend all!!

Crochet Countdown

It's nearly only a month away from Christmas and I still haven't made as many gifts as I'd like.  But I did accomplish some smaller projects this week.

An kids Angry Bird Hat.

And more work on the ripple, granny square to cover a cushion and Lucy's Triple Layer Flower from Attic 24 tutorial. Really quite easy.  I will have to make some more of these.  And to all you American's out there, Happy Thanksgiving!!  I'm off on Friday whoohoo.
Might see what sales are on for Black Friday or if it's just hype.

Owl Mini Purse

I made this cute mini owl purse this week.  Along with still working on my other ongoing projects. I hope to make a few more of these and other smaller projects and maybe try to sell some so people can give the gift of handmade this year.  There's always something special about receiving a gift that is unique and handmade.

And the swap I mentioned a few posts ago is under way and I have my partner in the U.S.
I made a coaster and bit larger table cover in festive colours.

And on the home front, the kitties are doing better. Sneezes have gone away but still making them finish out their meds.  Well, that's all for now. Hope to post more on the weekend.

FO - Finished Objects

Remember this project, Messenger Bag?  Well it was made and lined.  I frogged my strap today as I realised I didn't do it right in the first place.  It came out much better.  Attached that, added heart buttons and made the flower.  What am I going to do with it?  Not sure.  Probably add it to my Etsy shop.  Ravelry said I started it in April.  LOL Well at least it's done.

Another one is this pink cowl.  I found it in my project drawer.  Pulled it out and kept crocheting until it was near out of yarn.  And also started making more African Flowers. I forgot how much I like making these.

What have you made this weekend?

Crocheting the Week Away

Finished my table mat. I wish I had just realised I needed it longer to add to the ends before putting the border on.  Oh well, if it bugs me enough I guess I would frog the borders off.  But it's not likely.

I've been getting some progress done on my ripple with my sidekick.  It covers over my feet and is up to my shoulders.  Maybe another foot to go.

More length in on this scarf.

I also just signed up for this winter's Handmade Gift Exchange.  I enjoyed doing it last year and have kept in contact with my Canadian partner Carissa who makes some great jewellery.  Check out her Etsy shop.

TGIF, it's been a long week.  But, yet another long weekend for me.  Yeah for vacation time.  Monday off. Mom's birthday saturday. Crochet, crochet and more crochet.
Kitty update, my little guy has recovered quite quick and well from his teeth extractions last week.  The other one sneezing has seemed to get through it, thanks to anti-biotic meds from the other cat.

Happy Weekend All

Fall Days and Crochet

Almost there progress on my ripple. According to Ravelry I started on Feb 18th. Of course throughout the summer I didn't work on it much as there wasn't a need for the blanket. Once I get to my desired length I want to do an edging up the two sides to hide the joins.  I don't know if you can see the slight bump on left of picture.  That's my baby cat who likes to sleep under the sheet.  He just got dental work done yesterday and they ended up having to take out 5 teeth.  Poor guy, but it hasn't affected his appetite.

Scarf progress.

I had the day off yesterday.  Dropped the cat off at the vet, hit the 50% off sale at the thrift store and found some sweaters a purse and a few clothing items for my folks. Then went and had a massage and got my nails done.  Blue-tipped with flower design on ring finger.  And this is my Saturday morning Cappuccino, yes that is my Donald Duck spoon from when I was young.

We had two Indian summer like days here this week that got to 70+ degrees F.  On my lunch hour one day I went for a stroll at a park and snapped some nice pics of the trees.

I was even walking and crocheting at the same time and this couple stopped and said, not everyone can do that.  I said I'm multi-tasking. LOL
It just seems to be a required skill in life.

I stopped by a gift store yesterday and had to stop and snap these gorgeous items.  I LOVE SNOWMEN!! If I were rich I'd buy them all up.

I found a hook that you put in the garden to hang plant/bird feeder at this store.  I got my dad a bird feeder to put outside his window and his care home.  I got the suet kind so we don't have to keep getting seed. I hope he gets some birds to his window.  Seems most people had one in front of their windows.  He loved feeding them when he was back at home.

And finally, my project I finished up last weekend.  I've been itching to make something with my owl fabric.  So I got out the sewing machine, inter-facing and made this little pouch.  I'm using to carry my crochet hooks.

HOOT HOOT!

Have a groovy weekend crafty peeps!!
