Quick update

I finally finished my baby boy sweater for my cousins gift. I'm happy with it since it's my first baby clothing item.

I made these crochet flower rings quite quickly this week.  Used a plastic ring off a drink bottle.
Trying out some triangles for bunting.

Michael's crafts stores had some new wonderful yarns, namely these bright colors in Caron Simply Soft line.  I waiting until Saturday to use their 40% off entire purchase coupon saving 19.97.
Now what shall I make with these bold colors? Hmmm.

Recovering and Relaxing

We had some beautiful weather this week as we laid my mother-in-law to rest.
I'd like to think she had a part of the glorious weather.  Sunny and not too hot.
I didn't do a whole lot of crochet.  I've just been trying to rest my arm a bit.

I did make this nipple baby hat however. I didn't have the right pink to do the nipple so used more of a tan color with cream.

I did some sewing this week.  I had previously made this square set but I made 3 more. I'm thinking it'll be a baby changing mat.

My cousin and I went strawberry picking yesterday. She's the one expecting in August.  It was my first time.  Good thing we went in the morning before high sun hit.  They are so deliciously sweet.  It'll also be my first attempt at jam.

Some uniquely shaped strawberries.

We also hit a yard sale and I found this bowl with holes it it that I'm going to use as a yarn bowl.  I've been wanting one but find they are too pricey. This will do.

Also cut the hair a bit shorter for summer.  I have thick hair and get hot so easily.

Happy Summer All!

Keep Calm and Carry On

My mother-in-law passed away yesterday.  She has been in the hospital these last few months and we've been visiting every other day.  She had broken her arm that landed her in the hospital and they discovered her cancer had spread to her bones and lungs.  Super nice woman, kind hearted.  My honey was partly prepared and saddened at the same time.  It's just comforting however to know she can breathe freely again and walk with no pain. I must send my crochet hearts with her.

WIP - too many to count. LOL The baby sweater is coming along.  My first baby garment I've made.  Working on the hood and then will start the trimming in white.

And for a collage of other WIPs.

Left is the start of a poncho with some nice 50% cotton 50% acrylic yarns I found at the thrift store a while back. Top right, start of a granny security blanket. I will attach a character head in middle.  I'm trying to make it for my cousin's boy when she's in town for a visit next month.  Lower right, cotton throw blanket.

I've been practising on holding my hook differently as suggested by a co-worker to maybe help eliminate the movement that is causing my arm troubles.  I've been trying to hold it more like a pencil and twisting the hook more instead of twisting my wrist so much.  I went for my first acupuncture treatment last week and found it has helped already.

Another thing I made last weekend was for the cat.  A simple cat nip bar.
And my one cat loves it.
I got a great picture of all three of them together last week.
Left is the oldest 11 years, middle is the youngest 4 years and right is middle of 10 years.

Yarn and Hooks

Picked up a few skeins of yarn at a thrift store this week.  $1 for 2 skeins of an old Caron yarn in white.  Perfect for my baby sweater I'm working on for the edging and a skein of a hunter green for
50 cents.  Gotta love getting yarn that cheap.  I also had a new Etimo Tulip Crochet Hook come in
the mail this week.
I really love these hooks, so comfortable in the hand and no snagging.  Here is the progress
on my first baby clothing item. I hope it works out.  I saw someone on Instagram making it and asked where they got the pattern.  It's on Bernat's site.  It will have a hood.  However, I was a bit thrown off by how they worded the pattern.  So, I'm kind of improvising.

I got two more gumballs to go before turning these into squares.

And as for my arm issues, still so so.  I am going to try acupuncture with my chiropractor this
week.  I hope it helps.

Happy Weekend All!

Days Go By

I've still been working through issues with shoulder, elbow and wrist. Chiropractor is trying some different techniques. Unfortunately when you do repetitive tasks daily, it may never completely get better.  Anyone else have these issues? What do you find helps?

I found a pillow form for this ripple at the thrift store.  Perfect tubular pillow.  I already had the ripple mostly done.  The form is not quite long enough but may have to add some filler on the ends.

I managed a few more rows on this crocodile stitch shawl.  I'm just glad I finally found
a project to use this Patons Lace yarn I got last summer.

These seem to be popular amongst the crochet blogs.  They are so easy to work up and
a great way to stash bust. I will have to do a few more.

Just a little collage I made.  Top left, more gumballs made, top right, baby booties,
and the bottom was my items out at the yard sale we had last weekend. Unfortunately didn't sell
any of my items.
